
Dr Flora Ip
MB BS, MPH, FRACP
Dr Flora Ip, Consultant Endocrinologist has particular interests in diabetes, general endocrinology including thyroid disorders in addition to obesity and osteoporosis. She graduated with MBBS from the University of New South Wales in 2003. She subsequently completed a Masters of Public Health from the University of Sydney in 2009. She obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians 2010. Dr Ip trained in Endocrinology at Concord Repatriation, Westmead & Blacktown Hospital. In 2008, she received the Concord General Repatriation Hospital - Young Investigator Award Clinical Research Category. In 2010, she received the Australasian Diabetes In Pregnancy Society - Emerging Investigator Award 2010. She regularly attends national and international Diabetes & Endocrinology meetings.

Dr Weng Sam
MB BS, FRACP
Dr Weng Sam is a Consultant Endocrinologist with special interests in diabetes, general endocrinology and bone metabolism. He works in private practice in Blacktown and Gosford, and has been Consultant Endocrinologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Diabetes Centre since 2004. He has published in the areas of diabetes and metabolic disease and was Co-Investigator in the ADVANCE (Diabetes) study. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Sydney, awarded MBBS in 1993 and the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2001.

Suzanne Short

Suzanne Short is an experienced Credentialed Diabetes Educator and member of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association. She has been a diabetes educator since 1995. Prior to her current role, she was Clinical Nurse Consultant at the Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals Diabetes Services. She has nearly 20 years experience in providing diabetes education to patients with diabetes. More recently, this has included Type 1 diabetes insulin pump starts and reviews and continuous glucose monitoring. She has also worked in GP practices and facilitates the interface between patient, GP and specialist services. Suzanne obtained a Diploma of Applied Science, Nursing, University of Western Sydney in 1990, Graduate Certificate of Diabetes Education, Deakin University in 1994 and in 2009, a Masters Degree in Nursing Clinical Leadership.

Mandy Chan

Mandy Chan is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, holding a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education, Sports Nutrition and Paediatric Nutrition. She is also a Credentialled Diabetes Educator. She promotes an education and outcomes-based approach and makes sure her patients are assessed and evaluated regularly to review if programs are working. She provides patients with individual meal plans that meet their nutritional requirements while fitting into their lifestyle and family needs.

Ben Bailey
Bachelor of Exercise Physiology
Ben Bailey is an Exercise Physiologist and was educated at the University of New South Wales where he received a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology (Medicine) with distinction. His final semester was completed at the University of Connecticut where he received an international exchange scholarship and achieved a 3.9 GPA. Ben is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise Sports Science Australia. His primary goal is to help others realize their health and fitness potential. Currently working within the Metabolic Rehabilitation and Nocturnal Hypoventilation Clinic at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, he is applying best practice principles of exercise testing, prescription and supervision. Motivational interviewing, goal setting and behavioural change counselling are skills Ben is using on a daily basis to effect positive lifestyle change in his clients. These clinics are regarded as models of care both statewide and nationally.
